SIMON BELL, PADI Course Director There aren't many people who can boast to spending half of their working life in the ocean under water, but I’m very proud to say I’m one of them. As a young boy, I always dreamed of being a Navy Frogman. That didn’t go quite according to plan as my career path took a very different route… to a BBC newsroom as a reporter! But my fascination with the underwater world finally led me to where I am today: having taught well over a thousand people to take their first breaths underwater. The best part of my job is teaching new divers to appreciate the ocean environment. This is what gets you up in the morning. People often ask if I get bored of diving in the same dive sites, even though we have tons to choose from. But these dive sites are like my office where I go every day. It beats most people’s offices. And their commute to work too. There’s too many great diving experiences to single out, but some of the best ones will have to be diving the deeper reefs of Tarifa here in Spain, where it’s possible to see whales, dolphins and turtles. Other best experiences include a one-hour-long dive with a single Giant Manta Ray in Mexico, an entire dive surrounded by Oceanic Whitetip sharks in the Red Sea and a particular night dive in the Bay Islands of Honduras with only one other diver and a giant octopus that seemed to last til the next morning.

KEV TURNER, PADI Course Director My name is Kev (don't call me Kevin - I go all green and start growing too big for my shirt!!). I’m a British national who fell in love with the underwater world off the coast of Kenya. I have dived and worked in diverse locations such as the UK, Malta, Thailand, Malaysia, New Zealand, Australia, Egypt, Central America and of course Spain and the Canary Islands. My extended experience includes: I am currently working full-time on the Canarian island of Lanzarote and make several trips a year to conduct PADI Instructor Development Courses at Simply Diving on the Costa del Sol. Previously I’ve spent time running Instructor courses on Utila in the Bay Islands off Honduras, in Sharm El Sheik, Egypt, South Island New Zealand, Malta and the UK. Besides teaching diving, I spend my time on wine (Spain does offer some of the best wines in the world!), women (well not strictly true, as I only have eyes for one woman, my new wife!) and song (well not strictly true either, as I am tone deaf!). I believe to be successful as an Instructor not only do you need the skills and knowledge learnt on your IDC and throughout your diving career, but also a passion for diving and the underwater world. The first part, we bring to the party. The second part, we expect you to! You will find the IDC hard work and a little stressful. But you will also enjoy it and have a lot fun along the way.
